CLAT Overview

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs at 24 NLUs and several affiliated institutions across India. CLAT is held once a year in offline mode and is the primary gateway for 5-year integrated LLB and LLM programs.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria

For UG (5-year LLB):

  • Must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognized board.
  • Minimum marks: 45% (General/OBC); 40% (SC/ST).
  • No upper age limit.

CLAT Application Process

  • Applications are accepted online via the official CLAT Consortium website.
  • Steps:
  1. Register on the portal.
  2. Fill out the application form and upload required documents.
  3. Pay the application fee (General/OBC: ₹4,000; Reserved: ₹3,500).
  4. Submit and download the confirmation page for reference.

  • Admit Card Release : Two weeks before the exam
  • CLAT 2026 Exam Date : December 7, 2025 (2 PM to 4 PM)
  • Provisional Answer Key : 1-2 days after the exam
  • Final Answer Key & Result : One week after the exam
  • Counselling Registration Begins : 1-2 days after the result
